1. The Horch plant (VEB IFA Kraftfahrzeugwerk Horch), Zwickau, employs about 5,000. Work is carried on in one normal and three special shifts. No Russians are employed at the plant. The general manager is Uhlmann (fnu) (SED). Schott (SED) is personnel manager chief Party activist. Raw material (sheet iron and steel) is obtained from the Riesa steel works and rolling mill (VEB Stahl und Walzerk, Riesa VVB, Erzbergbau). The following types of motor vehicles are produced:
a. H3A, a Horch 3-ton vehicle for use by the Volkspolizei as a troop carrier
b. HK1, an open cross-country vehicle for VoPo use (about 50 were produced in the second half of 1952)
c. Z3, a 3-ton tractor for VoPo use
d. H3B, a 3-ton bus
e. F9, a motor car for VoPo officers and East German Government authorities, and a special car (called a Stoerwagen) of which 50 or so were producted in the second half of 1952.
The total output per diem is 27 motor vehicles. The plant is guarded by some 35-40 VoPo with 3 watchdogs.
