DKW Refrigerators

Jorge Rasmussen was a master of cross-promotion. His interests spread far and wide across many industries and wherever he could, he integrated those business into the DKW sales network. In 1929, Rasmussen incorporated a refrigerator business into the organization. In volume 7 of the DKW Handler-Nachrichten in November 1929, the agent's magazine began its sale pitch for the new DKW - Das Kuhl-Wunder!

"In the spring of this year, we started manufacturing refrigerators in our Scharfenstein branch, and have succeeded in bringing a technically excellent and very inexpensive refrigerator onto the market. As this will meet a great need of the general public you should familiarize yourself with our product. The demand for refrigerators in Germany has so far mainly been met by American companies. Now it will no longer be necessary for our customers to buy a foreign product because the German DKW refrigerator (Das Kühl-Wunder) is at least as good as its foreign competition.

The DKW refrigerator is an electric-automatic cabinet which is simply connected to an electrical power point and does not require any special installation or maintenance. The cabinet has particular advantages thanks to the DKW rotary compressor, which is characterized by its smooth running and high performance. The cold medium we use, sodium-dioxide (SO2), is non-explosive and non-toxic.

Above all, the price of our refrigerator is extremely low, because we offer almost twice the usable cooling space for the same money as other systems.

The sales opportunity for refrigerators is enormous. It is not only in the larger households are becoming more and more common, that a refrigerator has become indispensable in the modern home. Private individuals, butchers' associations, and consumer associations are particularly good customers. We already have a fairly extensive network of representatives in Germany but would like to encourage our DKW dealer network to expand into this market so please contact our department “DKW cooling systems, Scharfenstein, Saxony.” We will then check whether there is a possibility of representation at your location and will provide you with detailed material. Should you not be interested in direct representation, we still recommend you to carry our promotional material and recommend our refrigerators business to interested customers. Referred sales would be rewarded through a corresponding commission.

We are sure you are already on friendly terms with a whole host of butchers, delicatessens, and other interested businesses, so we recommend you to take advantage of these relationships. Why limit the earnings of your motorcycle business to the normal, seasonal sales cycle when you can earn several hundred marks in one fell swoop, depending on the size of the system.
