1940 In the Year of the Great War

"In the year of the Great War, it is the duty of every motor vehicle owner to maintain the value of their vehicle.

This extremely important component of our national wealth requires constant care and maintenance so that the vehicle is ready to serve the fatherland at any moment, or to embark on peaceful work or a joyful journey after the final victory. We are convinced that with this booklet, we are providing every motor vehicle owner with valuable tips and advice for the proper care of their vehicle.

BOARD OF AUTO UNION A-G

Even your decommissioned vehicle needs regular, albeit minimal, maintenance. We are hardly mistaken in assuming that you thoroughly cleaned, greased, jacked up, and preserved your vehicle when you decommissioned it. However, the protective layer has to withstand the daily attacks of oxidation and thus "wears away" over time. Certain maintenance work must therefore be repeated from time to time if your vehicle is to retain its value. We would like to offer you our advice. Perhaps you have overlooked or incorrectly performed certain maintenance measures, or perhaps, given the countless maintenance instructions, suggestions, and tips published by many sources in the meantime, you have doubts about the accuracy of the work you have performed.

We have therefore summarized everything that we consider essential for the care of decommissioned vehicles based on our diverse experience in an easy-to-understand format.

We do not give exaggerated instructions; what we say is necessary. It makes no difference whether you do everything yourself or use one of our workshops for help. The only thing that matters is that your vehicle is cared for conscientiously and regularly, and that work that was previously neglected due to ignorance is now completed."
