1935 DKW 4=8 Schwebeklasse Owner Manual
Introduced in 1935, the DKW Schwebeklasse was a modernization of the earlier 'Big' DKW 4=8. The 4=8 range was introduced in 1929 and were powered by an unorthodox four cylinder two stroke motor. The engine was laid out with two blocks in a V arrangement with four cylinders and two charging pumps. It was a complex arrangement and the engine was plagued with problems that DKW engineers were never able to satisfactorily resolve. In addition, the car's body was entirely constructed of plywood and had no chassis. Consequently few of these cars have survived.
The user manual provides a great deal of information about the car's engine. Interestingly, there is not a single picture or diagram of the body.
