DKW Auto Union archive
Many years ago I started the Heinkel Scooter Blog to document my restoration of a couple of German scooters. One of those scooters was an IWL Troll from East Germany. The Troll was powered by a 149cc MZ engine and MZ was the East German successor of DKW, Germany's biggest prewar motorcycle manufacturer. This set me on a search for information about DKW.
After I wrote a story about DKW's pioneering two-stroke motor development, I was surprised to discover that that post received more hits than anything else I'd posted. I began to do more research.
This research lead me to DKW's range of two-stroke cars, something I was originally completely unaware of. I subsequently purchased a 1959 DKW F94 sedan from South Africa and a 1953 DKW F89P from Portugal. Over the years I have collected a wide range of DKW automobilia, adverts and manuals, which I have collected here along with the DKW posts from my Heinkel Scooter Blog. Many people have also shared with me copies of their DKW documents. I must thank Ralf Kopmann in Germany and Johan Marais in South Africa, among many others, for sharing their vast archives.
I have attempted to post the documents in date order.
